As one of Arabella’s accounting associates, Colin Hughes works with the Managed Organizations team to provide accounting support to the New Venture Fund and the other nonprofits that Arabella manages. His work includes vendor maintenance, credit card support, accounts receivable, leases, and projects that involve Salesforce, Concur, and other software.
Prior to joining Arabella, Colin worked in the financial research field as a research editor for S&P Capital IQ, a company of McGraw Hill Financial, identifying investment manager-related RFPs for clients, reporting changes in retirement system investment portfolios, and working with team leaders to design database queries for better information management in Microsoft Access. Colin has additional experience working in accounting and fundraising roles, both personally and professionally. He recently volunteered as a GED/ESL teacher’s assistant with Charlottesville Public Schools, and in 2013 raised $5,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Colin has a BS in accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he served as recruiting officer in the accounting honors society, Beta Alpha Psi.
