Barbara Landes is a senior advisor on Arabella Advisor’s Managed Organizations team, based out of the firm’s DC office. In this role, she provides guidance, advice, and support to Arabella’s internal leadership, its managed nonprofit organizations, and their boards, consulting on matters related to finance, risk management and governance best practices, and scale. As a thought leader, strategic partner, and subject-matter expert, she helps to oversee and optimize finance-related processes that handle more than $1 billion in philanthropic investments. Barbara has more than 35 years of experience as a senior financial leader and C-suite executive at for-profit and nonprofit brand-name businesses, primarily in the fields of media and professional services. She has been a chief financial officer and treasurer for substantial private, public, and not-for-profit companies, as well as serving in operating and strategic planning roles at these organizations.
For the past five years, Barbara has used her business expertise in her work as a consultant and thought partner to a variety of businesses across diverse segments, including online privacy, health tech, associations, and education. She is passionate about optimizing and professionalizing business activities and board governance, as well as about mentoring staff and colleagues to develop and excel.
Barbara holds a BA in political science from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, which honored her as a distinguished alumna, and an MBA from the Wharton Graduate School.
