Deputy General Counsel
Ahsaki provides advice and guidance on nonprofit tax, regulatory, and governance matters in support of the firm’s mission and vision. She helps maximize effectiveness and ensure compliance for Arabella and its clients, bringing deep expertise on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues that affect tax-exempt organizations. Ahsaki advises on issues including complex organizational structuring, charitable solicitation, board fiduciary duties, conflicts of interest, entity choice and formation, qualifying for tax-exempt status, fiscal sponsorship, grant making, corporate sponsorship and commercial co-ventures, unrelated business income, excess benefit transactions, and donor-advised funds.
Prior to joining Arabella Advisors, Ahsaki was counsel in the Tax-Exempt Organizations group at Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP, where her practice focused on representing public charities, private foundations, trade and professional associations, religious organizations, educational organizations, arts organizations, and other nonprofits. Ahsaki also served as the Deputy General Counsel at The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), one of the nation’s largest public charities.
Ahsaki earned her bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and is a graduate of Yale Law School. She is also a member of the New York State and DC Bars. When she is not working, Ahsaki enjoys spending time with her family, going on long runs, and trying out new recipes.
