Recently, the U.S. Senate narrowly voted down controversial legislation that would have made labeling of genetically engineered foods voluntary–and preempted states’ abilities to pass more stringent transparency measures.

In response, Arabella’s Good Food policy team–Eric Kessler and Melanie Barnes–provided inside analysis to MSNBC. Barnes and Kessler argue that, even as the GMO debate continues to rage, “America needs a comprehensive set of Good Food policies—one that mobilizes billions of dollars of private capital dedicated to building a food system that supports the health of American communities, the sustainability of our agricultural system and the equity of consumers.”
