Preserving Access to Healthcare for Kids

Yesterday, Giving Compass published an article by Arabella’s Senior Managing Director Gwen Walden titled “The Children’s Health Insurance Program Needs Help.”

“First enacted on a bipartisan basis during the Clinton administration,” the article notes, “The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) has reduced the uninsurance rate for children by almost 70%.”

The program’s success, combined with widespread and growing recognition of the importance of investments in early childhood, should make CHIP renewal a given. But there are no givens in the current political climate. So the article describes steps donors can take to help make sure some 9 million children continue to have access to healthcare.
