In the wake of the spring 2010 earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, as well as the oil spill off the U.S. Gulf Coast, we hosted a disaster-focused teleconference. It gave updates from Haiti and Chile, and provided advice for funding recovery.
The impact of natural disasters is worsened by existing inequities, and initial appeals to donors tend to focus on relief rather than recovery. In this brief, we offer suggestions for donors who want to help disaster-stricken regions rebuild and prepare for the future. This brief was part of our 2009 High Impact Giving Opportunities series.

After the Cyclone Nargis disaster struck Myanmar in May 2008, we hosted two emergency teleconferences featuring experts and NGO representatives from around the world.
